    Edward Masterson is a Headteacher of an Outstanding catholic school and lead Headteacher of St John Bosco Teaching School Alliance. He was designated a National Leader of Education in March 2013 and has led numerous School to School Support Projects. He specialises with support raising achievement across all key stages and work extensively with improving Teaching and Learning. Edward also supports Leadership and Management and work with Governors, Headceachers, Senior Leaders and Middle Leaders. He is also a designated Pupil Premium Reviewer and a current Ofsted Inspector.

    Paul is an independent education consultant. He currently works as a School Improvement Partner for Coventry Diocesan Board of Education and he is also a serving inspector. He has been the headteacher of three schools in different Local Authorities and has significant experience of school improvement. During his teaching career, Paul has provided in-service training to primary schools. Before becoming a deputy headteacher of a large primary school Paul was also a Strategic Manager of Teaching and Learning, a role which involved working with colleagues developing pedagogical expertise and know-how. During the five Ofsted and HMI visits he has been praised for his dynamism and vision as a leader. Paul specialises in providing training and consultancy focusing on all aspects of school self evaluation; data analysis, pupil premium and middle and subject leadership.

    Elaine Stevens have been a Headteacher of two successful Black Country schools and developed and led a Sure Start Children’s Centre and Daycare provision. During her career, she have been involved in the audit and evaluation of Early Years provision across a West Midlands borough and supported the development of high quality EYFS provision. She led the Early Years network within a Learning Community of 13 schools, supporting and leading training aimed at raising standards and attainment. More recently Elaine have been involved with in-school support, being able to offer guidance from an Ofsted perspective, being an Additional Inspector for Primary settings. Elaine find this a very rewarding opportunity for me to continue to put something back into the learning experiences for both children and staff.

  • Christine Finnegan

    Christine is the head teacher of an Outstanding catholic primary school in Halesowen, West Midlands. Christine has worked with many schools, both catholic and non catholic across Sandwell, Birmingham and Wolverhampton Authorities. Christine was appointed as the Deputy Head at St John Bosco Catholic Primary School, one of the most deprived areas of West Bromwich in Sandwell. and was appointed as co-head with Edward Masterson to drive up standards in school. In 2012 the school was awarded Outstanding, under the new Ofsted criteria, in all areas and a particular strength was the leadership and management of the school. As a result of St John Bosco’s teaching school status, Christine has supported schools across Sandwell, Birmingham and Wolverhampton, offering school to school support. Schools who have worked closely with Christine have been recognised by Ofsted as Good, under the new criteria, and more recently a catholic school in Wolverhampton that Christine worked with, has since been removed from special measures. Christine is trained as an Ofsted Inspector, under SERCO, and an RE Inspector for the Birmingham Catholic Diocese.

    I was born and bred in Birmingham and taught firstly in Solihull and then in Birmingham in State and Aided Schools in a variety of communities.

    I have held 2 headships in Birmingham for a total of 17 years - the first in a Catholic School (7 years) and the second in a Community/State School (10 years).

    In 2002 I moved into advisory work in Sandwell, for 13 years as a School Improvement Adviser, working with groups of schools in Tipton and West Bromwich. During that time, I also gained SIP accreditation.

    In 2014 I worked part-time at Sandwell LA and worked with Education Central Multi-Agency Trust as a Challenge Adviser.This is a role I am currently engaged in, working with 3 schools - 2 in Birmingham and 1 in Staffordshire.

    In April 2015 I left Sandwell to undertake private consultancy work with schools in Birmingham, Sandwell and across the Black Country.
